Design and Installation
Specializing in one-on-one garden consults, to help you decide which plants work best and where; detailed garden designs, plant lists and plant-maintenance schedules; full-scale plant, shrub and small tree installations, including turf-grass-to-plants yard conversions; and seasonal container plantings; holiday decorating; lighting work; and more.
Hedging and Pruning
Hedging and Pruning
Out-of-control boxwoods, butterfly bushes gone wild, unruly dogwoods and Leland cypresses that need shaping, liriope that needs cutting back in early spring...these are just a few of the services I perform, typically on a regular contract basis. (Please note, however: I do not tackle trees beyond what can be reached with a small ladder or pruning extender.)
Garden Maintenance
Garden Maintenance
Whether it's weeding, watering,* plant dividing/relocation or fall cleanups, no job is too small! (Please note, I do not mow grass or do lawncare maintenance; I only work with plants, and I do not use toxic herbicides or pesticides. Also, although I am available for regular periodic yard watering, my schedule does not permit for daily watering of tropicals.*)

From boring ivy to colorful glory
From boring ivy to colorful glory
This heavily shaded yard started out as a tree, a hydrangea and two bushes surrounded by mostly ivy groundcover; it needed color and variety, which was achieved by adding near-evergreen perennials and groundcovers, including lamium, coral bells and sedges.

Post-construction makeover
Post-construction makeover
This yard was transformed from a pile of dirt and renovation rubble, with only shrubs surrounding the perimeter, into a beautiful, low-maintenance half-circle sitting area. The makeover included red river gravel, flagstones, mulch, a cement bench, and an obelisk with accent plants (hiding a drain)!

Adding color & pizzazz
Adding color & pizzazz
This formerly drab, pre-existing front-yard shade garden was greatly in need of supplemental plantings before these colorful, low-maintenance, dry-shade perennials, with red, lime-green and silvery-white foliage, came to the rescue -- and added some snap, crackle, pop!

Creating visual interest with plants - year round!
Creating visual interest with plants - year round!
The client wanted to gaze out at a colorful "winter interest" garden from her kitchen window during the dreary winter months. So low-growing evergreen plants and shrubs, and long-blooming, frost-tolerant perennials came to the rescue!
